H. Pemberton, Jr., received his A.B. and A.M. from the Western Univ. of Pennsylvania, in 1873 and 1876. In 1873 he enrolled as a special student in the Univ. of Pennsylvania, receiving a certificate of proficiency in June, 1875. He was chemist, U.S. Chemical Co., Philadelphia, 1877-1883, and worked in other companies and as a consulting chemist. He married Susan Lovering in 1894.
